It can never be the same as actually being at Tregothnan but you need to help us present our unique products with the passion that we have for producing them. You can help develop campaigns, promote our floristry, tea and other unique products to the world. This could be part time or short term fixed full-time contract or full time. There is huge growth opportunity and if you help us realise that then there could be a great job in this for you. Horticulturalist (Vacancy)

Tregothnan is the delighted beneficiary of The Stanley Smith Horticultural Trust award and is seeking an outstanding candidate for the one year placement with possibility to extend. We have sought locally but wish to extend the search as wide as possible, any outstanding candidate will be considered. Enthusiasm and hard work are key attributes for developing a private botanical garden. We are looking for a talented individual to assist in every aspect of day-to-day practical management of horticultural operations in the garden. You will create outstanding horticultural displays and improve, develop and maintain the woody plant collections representing the level of botanical diversity.
A dedicated team player, you will possess a diploma in a horticultural discipline or NVQ Level 3 in Amenity Horticulture, or equivalent, or a proven background in horticulture, including training, along with knowledge of the work of a botanic garden. You will have an understanding of arboretum requirements for maintaining high quality temperate tree and shrub collections in addition to knowledge of horticultural machinery and husbandry. Good communication and presentation skills are essential, as are basic computer skills and the ability to produce technical reports and papers.

Salary is negotiable, from £11,000 per annum plus accommodation. 22 days holiday per year, a stakeholder pension as well as a great working environment.

Icecream seller

To sell the exclusive Tregothnan Kea Plum Icecream in theatre tubs at premier locations in August. Lets take this exciting new flavour to Cornwall and the world. Your ideas are welcome, we will cover the beaches, the airports and the sea with availability.

 

Lawns Care (part time paid or volunteer)

Knowledgeable and experienced person to care for the selected lawn areas. 1 day per week, could suit retired person. Must understand a high standard of lawncare, mowing weekly and the care programme.

Floristry Assistant (vacant)

Plant Records (on hold)

An experienced plant records creator is required part time to create plant accessions and labels. Working with one of the largest and most interesting collections in the UK, enthusiasm and attention to detail are as important as experience. This is a new position and volunteers may assist/ offer in this role as appropriate.

 

Kent sales representative (closing date 31st March)

Required to develop accounts with stockists in kent. Focus on produce from Tregothnan in Kent, particularly woodland Charcoal, firewood and kindling. Tregothnan also produces over 100,000 peony flowers for the UK market from Mereworth in Kent. Part time. As an integral part of the woodlands operation you will focus on local woodland products but also be briefed on the Tregothnan brand and its national and international representation and range.

 

Picking & Packing Assistant (no vacancy at present but send in details anyway)

We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly helper to pick our flowers and foliage and help put our orders together. This busy environment required flexibility and a can-do attitude. There is good opportunity to progress to a more senior role. No prior experience is necessary.

 

Packhouse Operator

Part/full time help is required to help pack a variety of orders for our drivers and couriers to deliver. Please call 01872 520000 with an outline of how many hours a week you may be available.

 

Vegetable Gardener (position filled)

Immediate Start, producing vegetables for the Kitchen at Tregothnan. Part/ full time, ideally a local enthusiast who loves growing vegetables. If you know someone who is too busy growing veg to be reading this then do them a favour and let them know.

 

Fine Joinery, (no vacancy at present but send in details anyway)
Are you a bespoke bench joiner, passionate about crafting wood to perfection? Then sooner or later there may be a vacancy you need to consider at Tregothnan. Since 1335 the same family has lived at Tregothnan and products from the Estate are supplied to discerning clients worldwide. Architectural joinery and working from plans is a key part of the job. You need to be competent with machines as well as working by hand. Our fine furniture is stocked by Fortnum and Mason in London and we are at the Chelsea Flower show, to name a few.
